Jesus said, “I have called you friends: because I have made known to you everything that I have heard from my Father” (John 15). The Parish Care of the Sick Lay Minister, a member of our parish community, receives special training to provide one-to-one Christian charity. Parishioners experiencing separation from St. Mary’s Church community due to illness will be visited, brought the Most Holy Eucharist, and encouraged to pray.
Sacramentals such as blessed water, scapulars, rosaries, and blessed medals are also available to the sick. In union with Christ, volunteers will have a chance to bring their faith to those in need as they serve the greater community parish in charity. The ministers are here to listen, encourage, and provide spiritual support through a difficult time.
Areas of service: Home of the Good Shepherd, Saratoga Hospitals, Wesley Health Care Center, Senior Communities, Hospice Homes, and the homes of our parishioners.
Sacramentals used: Blessed Water, Blessed Oil, blessed scapular and medals, the Most Holy Rosary, blessings, and prayers.
The Sacrament we bring: the Most Holy Eucharist.
